A Three Star Halloween

Given Cal and Crewes' fascination with playing Angry Birds, it was only natural they would want the WHOLE family to be Angry Birds for Halloween.

Each of us selected our own characters. Somehow, they are pretty reflective of our individual personalities:

• Crewe: yellow bird, the fun bird that breaks through obstacles easily and is Crewe's favorite color
• Cal: black bomber, the bird that can make any place look like a bomb has gone off in a blink of an eye and also Cal's favorite color
• Chris: red bird, the bird that is so dependable and is the perfect match with Chris' glasses
• Camille: queen pig, because the birds are always trying to score points with me!

My mom was such a trooper and helped to make our costumes (and costumes for two of my brothers and SIL). I have this thing for homemade costumes. They are so endearing and I love the memories that are created during the "construction period."

And it was quite a construction period. Cal was Grammy's assistant and had strict quality control requirements. We can thank Cal for the black feather on Crewe's costume. When given the choice of spending the afternoon at the train park (just his favorite place on earth) or staying home to work on costumes, he didn't hesitate even a moment and said "Angry Birds!"

The boys loved wearing their costumes and their respective preschool events:

They were also a hit at our local Church's "Trunk-or-Treat" event where we were honored with the the Most Creative award.

Trick-or-treating Halloween night with the Smiths was a blast. Who wouldn't love being taxied around in hay-bail lined trailer decked out in Halloween gear and pulled by a rhino? And, to think we use to just walk from house to house!

A three-star Halloween, indeed.

Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat (MWYH) would like to wish you all a Happy Halloween!

George and MWYH did their trick-or-treating last night at our church trunk-or-treat. They had a blast walking from car to car and taking in the creative decorations. While Cal was enjoying watching the candy pile up in his bag, Crewe was admiring the fog machines and haunted trunks.

Here are a few shots from a perfect night - 75 degrees and no wind, just the smell of apple cider and popcorn.

Spooktacular Festivities

Halloween is the much anticipated first "bookend" holiday of the holiday season at our house. The boys are really into this it this year -- age 3 seems to be the magic age when kids start to get it. This past week has been full of fun activities leading up to the ward Trunk-or-Treat tomorrow night.

On Sunday, Cal and I made pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes - yum!
I used honey instead of sugar and the still tasted great.

Wicked Library Story Time

Wendy the Friendly Witch flew into the library on her
broomstick for a very special story time. Crewe was a bit
freaked out, but Cal sucked it all in as evidenced
by the pirate patch below.

Fall Festivals

The man in the yellow hat just before leaving for his

preschool fall festival. His usual "George" (aka Crewe)
wasn't available, so he had to take his stuffed Curious George.

Halloween Weekend

Halloween in Arizona is the best. The weather is perfect for trick-or-treating and all of the other fun festivities. Grandma and Grandpa Calvert came for the weekend and we all had a blast together. I forgot my camera Halloween night, but here are a few of the highlights in photos.

Annual Cousins Halloween Party

Mindy and Lindsey hosted the first annual cousins Halloween Party on Friday night. Everyone came in costume. We were so glad we were in town because it ROCKED!

My mom is THE holiday queen. And you know life is good when you can be in her holiday kingdom. These photos are for her... trying to keep up the magical holiday spirit she always had in our home growing up.
