Easter

Easter morning was almost as much fun as Christmas morning with the boys.

Cal woke up first and spotted his Easter outfit immediately. The white and navy saddle shoes were a much bigger hit than I expected. I thought I might need to talk him into wearing them, but he LOVED them. He insisted on putting them on immediately and paraded around all morning in his PJs and saddle shoes.

With Cal's new shoes on and Crewe awake, the boys were ready for the egg hunt. Crewe found his basket first.

Of all the cool things in his basket, Crewe was most excited about this:
An Easter egg full of fruit loops. It's not everyday that fruit loops are available at the Calverts!

Cal was so sweet at helping everyone find their baskets. He was genuinely excited to help each person discover their Easter treasures. His was the last one he found:
The bunny mask was a big hit.
So was the new hat.
After the hunt, we enjoyed a delicious brunch complete with Grammy's amazing quiche.
And then finally off to church to celebrate the resurrection with our church family.
The primary children summarized the day beautifully today when they sang "Jesus is risen... love fills our hearts..."

Egg-cellent Times

The annual egg dying event was even more exciting this year than previous years.

First, because Grammy was in town to participate:
Second, because Crewe wore this awesome "egg hat" that he made at the library earlier in the week.
Cal wanted in on the egg hat action: Crewe, may I please wear your egg hat?
Crewe: Cal, you better take good care of it!
And third, because we initiated the "icky egg" tradition at our house.

The icky egg tradition is one that Chris had with his siblings. It goes like this: take one egg and dye it in every color so that it turns black; hide this icky egg in an extra difficult place to find; on Easter morning the finder gets to exchange the icky egg for a special surprise.

Another egg-cellent adventure was the annual Easter egg hunt at church.

Crewe and grammy scored.

So did Cal, who was anxious to give his chocolate rollos to his dad.
The miniature petting zoo was so fun. Cal loved the petting one of the new bunnies.
Post egg hunt we headed got to spend egg-cellent quality time with Cousin Aubrey and Grammy at the train park.
Grammy, Aubrey, please come visit again soon!
We can horse around some more and create more egg-cellent memories together.

Easter

Neither Chris nor I have family in town and that fact is most profoundly felt on holidays. This Easter we were lucky to have several family members visiting -- The Sants from Atlanta, Mom & Dad Calvert from Denver and my sweet cousin, Whitney from Utah.

After watching general conference, we enjoyed a delicious dinner outside on the patio and watched the kiddos unload their Easter baskets. The highlight of the day for me was sitting around the fire pit just after the sun went down and sharing our thoughts about Christ and his resurrection and discussing our impressions from conference.

Easter

Easter was a beautiful day. The feeling of new life was in the air. It was so fitting that we got to go to church as a complete family for the first time since Crewe was born. The Sants, Ross, Justin, and Mom & Dad Calvert joined us for church.

Later on we all got together again for a delicious Easter dinner on the patio. We decided to take a break from the traditional ham and do prime rib. Donn was a fantastic chef and masterminded the yummiest cut of beef I've ever had. Thanks, Donn for daring to be different.
